George Abie Williams Throws First Pitch for Opening of Radford University’s New Baseball Stadium

On April 8th, 2011, Radford University inaugurated its refurbished stadium just in time for the Highlanders’ home game. The remodeling project drew its resources primarily from private donations, relying on numerous individuals for their personal and fundraising contributions. Many of those recognized for their efforts attended the game that night and received the honor of tossing the first ceremonial pitches. These included Radford University President Penelope Kyle, Robert Lineburg of the athletic department, Mike Hurt on behalf of the RU Athletics Foundation, Coach Joe Raccuia, and George Abie Williams, who represented parents of Radford students.

The Senior Vice President of Investments and Branch Manager of the local office of Stifel Nicolaus in Radford, Virginia, George Abie Williams involves himself strongly in the local community, especially through contributions to teen and college sports. He spearheaded efforts to build a new baseball field for the local high school and youth leagues.
