The James P. King Center, Successful RHSF Project

An accomplished financial adviser with more than three decades of experience, George Abie Williams of Radford, VA, has spent the last seven years as branch manager and Senior Vice President Investments at Stifel Nicolaus. Apart from work, George Abie Williams actively supports community organizations such as the Radford High School Foundation (RHSF), which he has served as chairman since its founding in 1986.

Established with the mission of supporting and enhancing the Radford school system, the RHSF has donated more than $500,000 in scholarships and classroom grants to four city schools. The foundation is also responsible for spearheading the fundraising campaign for the James P. King Center, a facility that includes a full-size gymnasium, fitness and strength training equipment, a classroom, and a locker room. The foundation successfully coordinated between the city and the schools to raise more than $1.2 million for the facility, which included a $100,000 donation from Dr. William W. King on behalf of the King family.

The Radford High School Foundation

Co-founded and chaired by George Abie Williams, a 30-year financial advisor who serves as Senior Vice President Investments at Stifel Nicolaus, the Radford High School Foundation in Virginia maintains more than 20 funds. With assets totaling in excess of $1.4 million in 2011, according to the National Center for Charitable Statistics, the organization provides annual scholarships and cash grants to support Radford City Schools. On George Abie Williams’ watch as chairman, in 2005, the foundation played a key role in the construction of a new baseball facility for Radford High School and area youth leagues.

In addition, the Radford High School Foundation spearheaded fundraising for the James P. King Center at Radford High School, a $1.2 million project, in 1999. Recently, the charitable organization awarded Radford City Schools $13,473. Overall, the foundation has bestowed nearly $400,000 in scholarships and classroom grants since its establishment in 1986, including $32,623 in fiscal 2012.
